Do YOU know what’s in your food?

I recently watched a disturbing video about what is contained in the foods we purchase from the supermarket and produced for the masses. It lead me to the question I am asking you now, do YOU know what’s in your food? It concerns me that so much trust has been placed with food giants and it isn’t surprising that the worst offenders of genetically modified foods for the mass population is coming from America.

You can see the physical evidence around you, Americans are suffering from obesity and huge health problems compared to those of us living in Europe. This doesn’t mean we are completely immune to this poor standard of unhealthy, life crippling food, here in Europe. I have had my moments of buying a “succulent looking” whole chicken, bringing it home, boiling it and and finding it floating in an exaggerated thick layer of oil.  It had me thinking twice about where I purchased my food from. Cheaper is not necessarily better! The cost has a very huge price on your health! And thats right, the big producers of food do not care about your health. Some of the health problems caused by consumption of GMO foods are diabetes, infertility, cancer, allergies and the list of goes on and on. It would be strongly advised to begin buying and eating organic food if you are serious about your health and long term happiness. You can also watch the video below if you would like to find more proof in the pudding. Lets stop living in denial about the harm we are causing each other through the food we eat and give to our children.

Ben Affleck and Chocolates in Congo

Ben Affleck and Chocolates in Congo

Ben Affleck has recently been busy with his new film “Argo” in which he directed and starred in.Despite his crazy schedule, he has been able to dedicate his time and attention to the Chocolate industry in Congo.
Congo has been going through numerous conflicts, civil war and fighting among rogue militias. Millions of people have died as a result of all the unrest going on in the country. Upon hearing the stories as a result of the unrest, Mr Affleck felt drawn to do something about it especially when he found out that 2 out of every 3 women have been raped, he felt deeply moved as a husband and as a father.
Affleck’s organisation the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) is aiming to raise awareness and generate funding for community based groups in the country. They have recently been focusing on sustainable aid, connecting the local farmers with chocolate manufacturers in order for the people to make money through their hard work and efforts.

Mr Affleck is certainly opening doors for the people of Congo and it really does make him look even more handsome don’t you think?

Dripping Chocolate furniture design

Viennese designer Dejana Kabiljo was inspired by Austria’s legendary delectable pastries. When asked about her sofa design which she called “Let them sit cake” she said

The furniture collection stands for abundance, growth, joy, prosperity, optimism and sweetness in our times of uncertainty and economic crisis.

The stacked bags of wheat are covered with a dripping “chocolate” cushion, this is a great way to feast your eyes and let your imagination run wild. You dont have a choice really… It’s inedible.
