Paintings made with edible chocolate

08 Nov

Edible chocolate paintings made of entirely of chocolate by artist Jean L. Zaun, they are made with 100% white, milk or semi-sweet chocolates, food color, edible luster dust, transfers, edible pearls and glitter.

Jean L. Zaun (formerly Jean Wertz) used to be the candy coater in the family chocolate business for 22 years (her day job), before moving on to paint and sculpt full time in oils, pastels, and glorious chocolate.

She has received several prizes, awards and recognition for her chocolate paintings and sculptures at both regional and national levels.
Her exploration of chocolate as a creative medium arose from her boredom with her hand dipping role in the family business, she said “… I was literally ‘stuck’ in a puddle of chocolate eight hours a day” whilst this might be a dream role for several chocoholics reading this, i’m pretty sure after 22 years of having the same role, one would need to find a way to rebel against the monotony of it.

Jean’s chocolate paintings have appeared on CNN, Ladies’ Home Journal, Woman’s World Magazine, the Food Network’s “Roker on the Road” ,”Unwrapped” , the “Sharon Osbourne Show” and the “American Profile Magazine, “Creating Chocolate Masterpieces”.

Her chocolate paintings are in collection by celebrities such as Sharon Osbourne, Al Roker, Marc Summers, Lt. Governor Catherine Baker-Knoll and Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell.
