And now for the chocolate recipe you have all been waiting for that I am reluctantly sharing because it’s so good! It’s so good that I almost want to cry as i’m typing this. I hope you give it a go. It’s so worth a try!
Deep Fried Chocolate Strawberry recipe
300g Dark Chocolate
3/4 cup of milk
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 tablespoons Sugar
1 and 1/4 cup all purpose flour
a pinch of salt
2 pinches of baking powder
Oil for frying ( I used olive oil)
Wash and dry your strawberries thoroughly. Prepare a tray lined with baking paper. Temper your dark chocolate, watch video here to learn how to temper with a microwave. Dip your strawberries one at a time holding each one by the stem and placing on the tray with baking paper. Leave to set until chocolate hardens.
As your chocolate sets, prepare the batter: whisk your egg, milk and tablespoon of olive oil together in one bowl. In a separate bowl mix your dry ingredients together (flour, salt, sugar and baking powder) and then add your liquid mixture gradually mixing until the lumps disappear and your mixture is looking nice and smooth like a baby’s bottom.
Take off the stems from your strawberries and prepare a bowl/plate lined with some kitchen paper. Heat your oil in a small pot ( you don’t need a big pot and find you will need less oil for this) make sure it’s at least 2 inches deep, bring it to a temperature of about 188-200 degrees Celcius (370F)
Dip your chocolate strawberry in batter and gently place in hot oil. adding no more than 3-4 strawberries at a time. You will see it puff up (because of the egg in the mixture), it will then flip itself and turn a pale golden colour. Remove with a fork and place on kitchen paper plate. Repeat for the rest and serve warm to room temperature (not piping hot) drizzle some hot chocolate sauce or a scoop of ice cream on the side. Warning: This is heavenly! Come back and let me know how it went for you and if you have any questions. The video for this will be coming in the next few days so click here to subscribe to my newsletter so you will automatically get an e-mail when the video is up.
